Lead Water Testing

As you probably heard, lead was recently discovered in the water supplies of Flint, Michigan, and Sebring, Ohio. The potentially poisonous metal enters your water through lead pipes either in your home or along your water supply line. The EPA mandated that water be treated with anti-corrosive to prevent water from picking up lead particles as it travels through pipes. However, lead can still be found in water if it stays stagnate in lead pipes over time or if it is not properly treated with anti-corrosive.

What can you do to ensure your water is lead free?

Clearwater is offering a $30, certified water test so you can be sure your family is safe. A Clearwater representative will collect one liter of water from your kitchen or bathroom faucet. The test must take place first thing in the morning or directly after you return from work because your water main must be undisturbed for six hours prior to the test. Your water sample will be sent to a testing agency, and the results will be emailed to you within two weeks.
